An integrated engineering team for a competition
Responding to an architecture competition means holding several technical requirements at once, from the earliest sketch: LCA and RE2020 thermal, regulatory acoustics, biodiversity. ARKEMEP and ARKENOR bring these competences together in design, avoiding the need to coordinate several firms and limiting inconsistencies between packages.
This is a design assignment: no certification is coupled to it. Biodiversity certification (Effinature) is, where relevant, a matter for IRICE as an independent third party, separate from the competition team.

Stage
A competition is where the environmental result is decided.
By the time a competition is won, the structural principle, the envelope and the orientation are largely set, which means the carbon result, the summer comfort result and much of the acoustic result are set too. Engineering brought in after the competition inherits those decisions rather than informing them.
Working during the competition changes what is available. A rapid carbon model comparing two structural options, a summer comfort read on the proposed facade, an early view of the site's ecological constraints: each is cheap at that stage and expensive later.
Argument
Juries read evidence, not intentions.
A competition entry that states an environmental ambition competes with entries that state the same ambition. One that shows a calculated result, with its method, competes with nobody, and it commits the team to something it has verified it can deliver.
That last point matters after the competition too. An ambition asserted to win and unachievable in delivery is a problem the design team owns for the rest of the project.
