In Grenoble, in climate zone H1c, the RE2020 must reconcile cold winters and very hot summers amplified by the basin effect: real heating demand and critical summer comfort coexist. Dynamic thermal simulation sizes thermal inertia, solar shading and night-time over-ventilation to hold the degree-hours threshold, and the carbon component steers the choice of materials, including bio-based ones.
