Electromagnetic field measurements in Grenoble.

In Grenoble, the compactness of the built environment in the basin, the tram network and the concentration of scientific and technological activities create configurations dense in sources. Land constraints bring dwellings, transformer substations and technical rooms closer together, which makes low-frequency measurement particularly useful before handover. ARKENOR carries out the on-site EMF campaign, with calibrated equipment and a report positioning the results against the reference levels.

In Grenoble, electromagnetic field measurement establishes the real exposure of a site objectively: low frequencies at 50 Hz near distribution networks and transformer substations, radiofrequencies around transmitters. It positions the results against the regulatory reference levels and documents the "electromagnetic waves" criterion valued in HQE and NF Habitat certification.

Scope

ARKENOR carries out on-site electromagnetic field measurements as an independent third party. For design-stage electromagnetic study and engineering, ARKEMEP's engineering practice takes over.

FAQ

FAQ, electromagnetic field measurements in Grenoble

Two distinct domains. In low frequencies (50 Hz), the electric field in kV/m and the magnetic field in µT, associated with distribution networks, transformer substations, rising mains and internal installations. In radiofrequencies, from 9 kHz to 300 GHz, the electric field in V/m, associated with telecommunications transmitters. Each domain has its own protocol and calibrated equipment.
The reference levels come from European recommendation 1999/519/EC, transposed by decree no. 2002-775: 5 kV/m and 100 µT at 50 Hz, and 28 to 61 V/m in radiofrequencies depending on the band. Certification frameworks value more demanding thresholds: 5 V/m and 0.4 µT, then an enhanced tier at 1.5 V/m and 0.2 µT.
No, it is not a general building requirement. It comes into play as an item of evidence within certification frameworks, notably HQE Bâtiment Durable ("electromagnetic waves" theme, formerly target 12) and NF Habitat HQE, where it is a value-adding criterion rather than an absolute prerequisite. We act as an independent third party.
