Electromagnetic field measurements in Marseille.

In Marseille, the density of the urban fabric, the metro and tram network, port and industrial activity and the high concentration of radio transmitters multiply the sources to be characterised. In the rehabilitation of the older stock as well as on dense tertiary operations, rising mains, transformer substations and technical rooms require fine measurement at low frequencies. ARKENOR conducts the on-site campaign as an independent third party, from the 50 Hz magnetic field to radiofrequencies, and returns a report positioning each point against the reference levels.

In Marseille, electromagnetic field measurement establishes the real exposure of a site objectively: low frequencies at 50 Hz near distribution networks and transformer substations, radiofrequencies around transmitters. It positions the results against the regulatory reference levels and documents the "electromagnetic waves" criterion valued in HQE and NF Habitat certification.

FAQ

FAQ, electromagnetic field measurements in Marseille

Two distinct domains. In low frequencies (50 Hz), the electric field in kV/m and the magnetic field in µT, associated with distribution networks, transformer substations, rising mains and internal installations. In radiofrequencies, from 9 kHz to 300 GHz, the electric field in V/m, associated with telecommunications transmitters. Each domain has its own protocol and calibrated equipment.
The reference levels come from European recommendation 1999/519/EC, transposed by decree no. 2002-775: 5 kV/m and 100 µT at 50 Hz, and 28 to 61 V/m in radiofrequencies depending on the band. Certification frameworks value more demanding thresholds: 5 V/m and 0.4 µT, then an enhanced tier at 1.5 V/m and 0.2 µT.
No, it is not a general building requirement. It comes into play as an item of evidence within certification frameworks, notably HQE Bâtiment Durable ("electromagnetic waves" theme, formerly target 12) and NF Habitat HQE, where it is a value-adding criterion rather than an absolute prerequisite. We act as an independent third party.
